Josep Anton Morgui Castelló is researcher at IC3
and associate professor in the Departament d'Ecologia at the University of Barcelona.
The foundation of his education is the field of limnology and since 1983 his research work has been related to the flow through aquatic systems interfaces within and between ecosystems, biogeochemical reference to Carbon. Since 2003 he has participated in projects with a focus on the atmospheric part of the cycle, studied from airborne platforms (Icarus, Icarus-2), from Tall Towers (CARBOEUROPE-IP, GEOMON, IMECC) or both (FLUXPYR) within the regional and watershed management, in relation to climate dynamics. He is also the Spanish representative in the ESF PERGAMON (Methane in the Arctic) and TTORCH (Greenhouse Gases from Tall Towers).
At IC3 he is responsible for Lab of the Atmosphere and the Oceans (LAO
) at IC3
, where he started a line of remote-sensing for the integration of different scales of observation of the cycles of carbon and water in relation to climatic variables (FLUXPYR, MIDAS-6). In LTER-Aigüestortes the series began in 2008 biweekly measurements of atmospheric CO2 concentration in Estany Llong (whose first results were presented at EGU 2010 and the Symposium on Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics at Mountain Sites 2010: "Atmospheric CO2 Measurements in the South-Eastern Pyrenees ").
